Drs. Atkinson offer a wide variety of services. One of our specialties is bonded porcelain or composite tooth restoration. Often not encouraged by dental offices which have made a less concerted effort to embrace new technologies, there are multiple advantages to the use of composite (white) fillings. Composite fillings bond with and strengthen the tooth and seal out bacteria; whereas silver expands, can fracture teeth and cause leakage. Composite fillings are mercury-free, act as insulators (rather than metallic conductors) of hot and cold, and their trace amounts of fluoride help to prevent future decay. Finally, the color matching of composite fillings consists of four layers, for the closest replacement to natural teeth.
